Every time my Apple Carplay connection fails it's due to Spotify. More substantive example: poor integration, to the point of being dangerous, with Apple Carplay, and a generally crappily optimised, unresponsive and, yes, dangerous experience for driving with or without it. Then we'd all know what to expect when we pressed one of them. Instead have two buttons: one for Home and one for Back. It's some sort of home/back hybrid where you're never quite sure what it's going to do (this is on iOS). Note: You can use this to change the output of Spotify to headphones, bluetooth speaker or anything else you have attached and not use the default windows audio device.Trivial example: the Home button that doesn't reliably take you home.

Restarted Spotify and I was able to play music as per normal through the speakers. I closed the sound settings in Windows and closed Spotify. I selected my speakers from the drop down list. In my case Spotify had a blank value for Output device. Default is what Windows is currently using. You will see a list of all the apps that are currently using audio and what their output device is - such as Headphones, speakers, etc (usually it will say “default' for output and “default' for input). Scroll all the way down the settings to get to the “Advanced sound options” and click “App volume and device preferences” In Windows 10, go to the “Sound settings” control panel setting (use the search bar to search for 'Sound settings'). Run Spotify (need to have the app running). I fixed my problem by modifying sound settings in Windows only.
